What remains

The sandstone is enhanced with inclusions gleaned from the “sea wrack”, natural debris deposited by the sea at the edge of the shore.

Each one of them leaves its own trace in the sandstone: a discreet grain of sand, a fragment of granite firmly embedded, a shard of shell or seaweed of which only the halo of the imprint remains after firing...
